Officers are appointed annually, for a term of one year with no term limits. Red Hook Village Green Committee is open to any and all members of the community. If you are interested please contact the Village Clerk’s office.
Founding:
In accordance with the Community Forestry Program adopted 10-07-2002, The Board of Trustees established the Red Hook Village Green Committee.
Roles and Responsibilities
Annual Budget:
$15,000 allocated for contractual maintenance and removal of trees in Village right of ways.
$4,000 (approx. $2 annual cost per resident) is allocated annually out of the Village budget to purchase new trees which are planted during spring and fall season by Village Green Volunteers.
Past & Present Projects:
The Village of Red Hook is a Tree City USA Community so as well as participating in an annual Arbor Day celebration, the committee oversees two planting days per year.
Community Beautification Project: The Village Green Committee received a grant to install public benches around Red Hook Village.
Contributing to the Village Green:
Residents and businesses interested in having a tree(s) planted on their adjacent Village and/or State right-of-ways, volunteering for planting days, or making a donation to support the VGC’s various community beautification projects, may contact David Pearson, Brent Kovalchik, or the Village Clerk.
